20 Powerful Bible Verses on Forgiving Others

Bible Verses on Forgiving Others

“Not forgiving is like drinking cat poison and then waiting for the rat to die.” – Anne Lamott

How well do you forgive others?

I have really started to think about how poorly I am at forgiving others. I hold on to a grudge for years. I still hold it against my college friends who always picked me last for intramural basketball. One of these days, this 5’8″ white boy with the coordination of a drunk man on stilts will school each of one of them in a lethal game of 1 on 1.

On a serious note, God truly calls us to forgive others. How can we expect forgiveness to be lavished upon us if we don’t share the same sentiments on forgiving others?

  1. Thanks for sharing this Stephen! It’s not an easy thing to forgive, especially when you’ve been really hurt. In my own struggle to understand this, I was able to come up with an understanding of forgiveness which I can apply to my life: We begin to FORGIVE when we no longer seek HEALING from the same person who caused us PAIN. May we continue to seek our healing from God, who alone can guide us and bring us to the path of life! God bless.
