Did You Forget About Your Childhood Dreams?

We all have it when we are young.

I know I did, and I knew my best friend did. Sure, it was for different things.

I wanted to change the world through my imagination.

I would sit at a desk completely determined to draw a new invention to save the planet.

It was my passion and fire to create.

I Will Change Your Life.com, has written a post entitled, “Re-igniting The Fire Within.” He writes about when he was young, he had a drive to succeed in sports that nothing could hold back.

My friend was like him. He excelled in contact sports. I love sports, but it isn’t my talent nor my passion. Mine was to create; his was to compete.

When we are young, Our determination is all equal. No physical object can stand in the way.

Time Is The Killer

The only thing that can and usually does kill our dreams is time. Over time, people tell us that we need to forget our passion. Life is serious. Passion is an illusion. It is much to difficult to actually pursue. Its a waste of time and life is easier when I just get by.

I have fallen victim to this mindset. We all probably have.

Where does this pessimistic idea originate?

It all starts with those who love us and are worried about us. They have the best of intentions for us, but they can only pass on what they have been taught. The ones that they care about told them that their dreams and passions were worthless, therefore they need to tell us the same thing.

Childhood determination

Eventually, we do get away from our childhood passions.

The determination to pursue beyond all obstacles has withered into a secret fantasy to escape reality. We weren’t created to live safely.

Before our hearts were broken and blinded by time, we were passionate.

We were determined.

This isn’t merely childish ignorance, but is the reality that we all need to return too. What did you dress up as when you went to career day at school? Why did you choose it?

Nobody dresses up as a zombie watching everybody else live.

Figure out the reason why you chose that career and pursue the passion behind it with a rekindled fire. Follow it with your childhood’s determination, before it was tainted by time - pushing through the fears and anxieities of societies stinging daggers.
