Did You Have A Choice?

I have started to go to counseling. My wife and I decided that it would be best to work out some of my personal issues before I plunge into full-time ministry. I do think it is important for me to get some of my stuff straight before I embark on an emotionally draining career. It was a choice that we decided would be best for our family’s future.

My Choice 

Really, I didn’t think I had a choice. Not because I do everything my wife says (which I do.. sometimes), but I really didn’t see any other option. I knew the consequences and path my life could likely go and knew of only one way to fix it: go talk to someone. It was the right decision, but the point is that I thought it was the only decision.

Was It Right or Wrong? 

We always have a choice. Whether or not they are good requires discernment, prayer and reason. I could’ve chosen to ignore my internal conflicts or to fix it by myself. Each choice would’ve been followed with distinct scenarios. One might’ve been better than the other or they could’ve been equal. I might not have fully understood that there were options, but I chose to go to counseling. 

Good Desire for Right Choices

We need to be aware that we always have a choice and options. Admit to yourself that you have the ability and option to choose a bad decision. We are always capable of commiting some really ugly things, but most of the time we don’t. We desire to be a light for the world and usually choose a good option. There are times that we make rash decisions and choices, but if we get the opportunity to reflect on all the choices, we’ll chose the good one.
