Too many answers for me today
I love you my brother but i need time away
The smell of my bedroom is all that i can take
Away from the voices, the choruses they raise
This morning, while I was cleaning the lab, I came across the band Fielding on Pandora. They are a young emerging band from Santa Cruz, California. I found them while listening to the Jack’s Mannequien station I created so they are very similar to JM as well as Ben Folds. If you like the piano driven alt.rock with layers of distortion guitars on top, then here’s another band to add to your collection.
After listening a few seconds to their sound, I started to hone in on the lyrics. This particular song is called All you’ll get and the lyrics are amazing. I haven’t heard a band who can rock so well while writing good lyrics in such a long time. The lyrics posted at the top are the first verse of the song and they color a feeling of people overload that connects within me.
The song continues into the chorus:
This is all you’ll get
This is all i have to give
This is all you’ll get
This is all i have
I often try so hard to be the best and give everything I can to everyone. It is never enough. I always fail to provide something. In trying to please everyone, I end up overloading myself and hide away from the snickers in my own personal sanctuary. Fielding says at this point that “This is all you’ll get”. This is the truth. I want to be everything for you, but I am an imperfect person and though I want to offer more.. this is all I have.
