Trust and The Pursuit of Our Dreams

I admire my two year old son.

He is fearless.

The other day, I caught him on the arm of a rocking chair. He was leaning forward while standing on his toes to jump into his brother’s crib. He is persistent. He is driven. He is safe?

I suppose he has this confidence because he knows that I will protect him from the hard carpet floor. He trusts me enough to push for a dream.

The Loss Of Childish Bravery

After we’ve been hurt by others and failed ourselves through the years, we lose this childhood trust. We ask ourselves, “Do we trust anyone enough to pursue our dreams?

When I was in High School, my teachers thought I did drugs because I always zoned out. In reality, I was dreaming. I am a persistent dreamer with a large imagination. There still is a fear that keeps me from risking it all to pursue my dreams.

I don’t have faith that anyone would save me from a failed dream.

Finding The One We Can Trust Intimately

We all need someone that we can trust enough to make dangerous (dumb?) stepstoward a dream. Someone who we know will be there when we fail and hurt ourselves. I trust that my wife could do it. My family and a few friends would do it.

But I don’t trust them to do it.

The Safety Of Only Trusting Ourselves

We are safe when we rely on only ourselves. We know we won’t get hurt, because we don’t have to worry about taking a dangerous step. Our dreams die, but life is safe.

Relying on our own selves might be safe, but it kills our souls. Life begins to flow down the river, but we are watching from a dock.

God’s Desire For Us To Live Dangerously

God wants us to be involved in life. He wants us to pursue our dreams and aspirations. Life is not about safely passing through time, but dangerously pursuing dreams. God knows that it is an impossible endeavor without having someone to trust. I want to trust my wife. I know I need to trust my wife, but it is hard to allow myself to be open this way.

 fearless.

haha oldie.. I’m only 23 :P . I suppose jumping into our dreams is like starting any new project or writing article. The initial step is the scariest and hardest.

Then again, what kind of risks are you talking about? You got the job, wife and home, what other dream you still holding onto? Moonbaby..
