It might seem a little confusing and odd at first, but we are just a simple community of misfits searching for something larger than ourselves.

A secret is a worthless power. Those who wield its grips, control only air. Those who share its knowledge is rain in the midst of a drought.
For thousands of years, the knowledge has been held captive by a select few. Only those chosen are worthy to handle the secret’s magnificent saving power. It was Jesus himself whom shared it originally with only select disciples, but taught in parables to the rest of the world. The salvation of the world, passageway to truth and reality is all inside of this secret.
Dan Brown and Boxed Secrets
How many of us have read Dan Brown’s million selling novel "The Da Vinci Code"? I admit it. I have read it and actually enjoyed the book (not the movie). Its a great work of fiction based on a theory in the world, and its intrigue like many other movies, books and music is The Secret… This secret has the knowledge to rescue the world, but still needs to be contained within a box.
Underground not Indie
I look around and I understand why this theory is quite popular. Several years ago, I stumbled upon some ancient gnostic texts and older mystical texts and thought that I had discovered something that no one else knew. It seems like second nature to view the world as rats chasing cheese in a maze and ourselves as the one whom only sees the irony in all of it. Hence, we cling to some new philosophy, band, art piece, or technology and try with all of our might to keep it as a secret. This way we have prove that we, ourselves, are not chasing cheese in a maze. Our energy and pride in the underground secret keeps on going until it hits mainstream and then we bail out and search for the real secret. Don’t believe me? Who here listens to Snow Patrol, but can’t stand Coldplay? What about Ben Harper, but not John Mayer? Bob Dylan and Clapton are cool, but Maroon 5 and Dave Matthews are to bubblegum.
Virginia Tech Story
Yesterday, a student at Virginia Tech opened up fire and killed two students. Two hours later, he killed 30 more students and then took his own life to make the death total 33. Between the first shootings and the second, an email was sent out to tell the students not to go to school today. Hindsight is 20/20, so I don’t want to condemn them and say I would’ve done this or that. It is just a truth that secrets are not a power to be kept. In between the two hours, if those who witnessed the first shooting and the one who sent the email ran outside to truly spread the word then the outcome could’ve been the same. But at least it was shared.
Jesus, Secrets and affecting the mainstream.
Jesus wasn’t about secrets. He openly spread his teaching, love and help throughout the region. This is one of the main reasons why I have no problem following the figure of my childhood and parent’s faith. Instead of keeping his teaching with only those close by him, he sent them out to spread his message. Good and important things need to be shared and spread. Whether it is a book, movie, musician, philosophy, poet or artist, we aren’t rats chasing cheese in a maze. We don’t need to run from the mainstream, but influence good into society.
