It might seem a little confusing and odd at first, but we are just a simple community of misfits searching for something larger than ourselves.

Many blogs and many books write about it. There is good money to be made as it is one of the most important issues that nearly everyone faces at some point in his or her life. The topic of life and plans on how to become a better and more successful person are everywhere in the blogosphere, and I subscribe to alot of them. Unlike the self-help books on your bedstands, these writers give you good, insightful resources in matter of seconds reading their posts. If they didn’t, then the readers would quickly vanish.
One of my favorites to read is Lifehack.org . They recently posted on the 6 strands for success and talked about how to successfully interweave work and home to grow as an individual similarly to the strands on a thick rope. It is a great piece with interesting information. I would only add one extra strand which the other strands should wrap around.
Most of my life I had been frustrated with trying to figure out who I am going to become. A teacher, artist, musician, preacher, writer, web developer and my list of talents goes on from there. It was very frustrating because I could easily do any of these, but I didn’t want to lose the chance to become any of these titles either. I cried out to God many nights because my life seemed to come to a screeching halt until I would adorn myself with a title. This was all until one day during my reflection and conversation time with God I had an epiphany. I was trying too hard to become a label. I, with many others, have it backwards. Titles and labels are descriptions of who you are and what you do, not goals to become. Instead of grinding our brains to our skulls to obtain a general noun/title (an it), we need to turn the titles into descriptions of who we allready are. Allow the title to work for us and not us for a title. I am a teacher, artist, musician, preacher, writer, and web developer, but more importantly I am Stephen Miracle.

That’s pretty insightful man. Why do we spend our whole life trying to obtain a title, only to realize it is not the one we would really like to “commit to” for our whole lives? You raise some good points about letting the titles work for us and not the other way around. This rat race thing is a mess, isn’t it?
Yeh, but its quite difficult to overcome. Our entire system is set up for titles.
really nice post. that’s quite the revelation you had. thanks for sharing.
