In the presence of so much noise, we need something different. A voice that cries out of our passion for change. What will it take? God, send us this alternative noise!

This your first time at Altnoise.net?

It might seem a little confusing and odd at first, but we are just a simple community of misfits searching for something larger than ourselves.

Recently I have been linked to many IT and other tech careers after my final weeks of teaching is over. On one hand it is extremely exciting all the money that some people are throwing at me, but its also depressing to think I will look at code and computerized equipment all day. Yes, I am probably the picture of an oxymoron. A man who excels at coding and technology, but also has no passion and is bored by technology news and work. I understand that for some people that is their thing. I had one friend in college who was an android (half-man, half-machine) and would salivate at the latest google-venture, but I could care less.

The Good in Geek

There are a few things that I’m passionate about in IT work: The quickness I am able to learn something and move on to the next thing, the detective work it takes when I’m trying to solve complex code problems, and the innovation and creative skillsto create a nice website or application. For being such a complex person my mind works in a very simple process.. 1. Learn it. 2. Find the problem. 3. Innovate it. Throw in my desire for helping people and you know me better than I do.

Why is that?

It will probably be harder for my wife than I when I pass up the job opportunities. I’ve always had the belief that unless we give up, we always pursue the things that we are passionate about. I’m not talking about actual physical objects like houses or boats, but the more general idea behind it all - Creating not Music, solving not puzzles, understanding not reading and so on. My dad was driven for a life of freedom, security, and success after a childhood of ketchup sandwhiches so he worked hard to become a millionaire before he died in 1985. I’m driven by family love, professional success and making a difference. Going one step further, I accomplish this by my simple process: Learn it, Find it, Innovate it.

Time to get preachy

I believe God helped mold these passions into us for a reason and He wants us to fully pursue them for His, our and society’s fulfillment. Many people get lost in complacency and chained by social dogma that they lose sight and stop pursuing their passion. Jesus said to not worry about daily frustrations and responsibilities but to seek God first and all the rest will eventually come. If we pursue God through His given passions that drive us, then the rest will solve itself in practical ways (seeing many places/people : Travel writer?).

Woops…

This wasn’t supposed to be a preachy or long post. I didn’t even know what I was going to write when I first started, but its really important to realize and live through our shaped passions and not social/society standards. I wonder how many of us have actually reflected on our work and figure out why we are passionate about certain aspects of our lives.

Simple Question: What drives you?
